Twustlinger

Fleischerei Behrens GmbH & Co.KG Twistringen

Twustlinger, a piquantly seasoned Brühwurst (cooked sausage) made by hand to the butcher's own recipe at Fleischerei Behrens in Twistringen. The name comes from “Twustern”, the Low German name for Twistringen; the sausage tastes just as good cold as it does warm.

About the product

What sets this product apart

The Twustlinger shows its strength in versatility: cold as a snack between meals or for the classic Abendbrot, the German supper of bread and cold cuts, or warm in a hearty stew. It is just as at home at the traditional Grünkohlessen, the winter kale dinner, & on the barbecue. Fine bite, tender casing, a lovely smoky note, and it unfolds its aroma best when warm. The piquant seasoning follows the butcher's own recipe at Fleischerei Behrens.

Johann Heinrich Behrens opened the butcher's shop in Twistringen in 1903, and the business still works from the same site today. Thomas Hartmann now runs the business in the sixth generation, with branches in Bassum, Harpstedt, Syke, Weyhe, Bremen & Brinkum. From buying through processing to sale, everything stays in experienced hands; in 2023 the town of Twistringen named the business its “Company of the Year”.
