Gefriergetrocknete Äpfel
Apple slices from Lower Saxony, freeze-dried in Quakenbrück: L&P FoodTec GmbH turns fully ripe fruit from regional farmers into a crunchy snack that is 100 per cent fruit, with no added sugar, no colourings & a shelf life of up to 18 months.
What sets this product apart
Freeze-drying in the company's own facility preserves what makes the apple an apple: vitamins, colour, aroma & the original shape of the slices. The ingredients list reads 100 per cent apples from Lower Saxony, nothing else, with no preservatives and no added sugar, vegan and gluten-free. The slices crunch as you bite in, while acidity and delicate sweetness hold each other in balance. That works as a snack between meals, as a topping for yoghurt, muesli or drinks & as a baking ingredient.
Behind the Frudist brand are Alica Lammerskitten and Dr Oleksii Parniakov: three years of research into the drying process, published in scientific journals, before the idea took shape in summer 2019 of making regional farmers' highly perishable fruit keep. The brand name says what it is about: Frudist, from “fruit” and “nudist”, nothing but the naked fruit. The team processes the fruit in Quakenbrück; the apples are sold online, in more than 60 farm shops and delicatessens & in more than 150 supermarkets.
Lovely snack, good balance of acidity and sweetness, nice crunch when you bite in, and the apple slices are clearly recognisable as such.
Sustainable, appetising, a good snack.
I like the shape and the natural look.
